I am the lucky owner of Hood River Martial Arts, and am an 8th degree black belt with over 40 years of Martial Arts training in Taekwon-Do. I’ve had the honor to represent the United States in competition in Puerto Rico and Canada. In addition to competing, I have successfully coached numerous athletes in domestic and international events.
I trained and tested under Grand Master Charles Sereff of the United States Taekwon-Do Federation, and I’ve had the privilege to train numerous times with the late General Choi Hong Hi. In 2013, I opened Hood River Martial Arts in Hood River, Oregon.
I am an experienced & dedicated martial arts instructor from the Philippines with over 30 years of martial arts training and over 20 years of teaching experience.
I am currently holding a 4th degree black belt in ITF Taekwondo-Do, an instructor level in kickboxing and a head instructor/punong guro level in the filipino martial art of Kali-Arnis-Escrima.
I am a competitor & coach in different martial art disciplines. I have competed, coached & had been a champion in tang-soo-do, submission grappling, mixed martial arts and kali/arnis/escrima in the local, national & international level.
I have been teaching & coaching in the US for the last 5 years. And I have been a part of the Hood River Martial Arts team in September 2022 and took the role as lead instructor of Taekwondo-Do and Kali Combatives.
I began my Taekwon-Do journey when I was 42 years old with my family in 2010 through the YMCA in Seattle, Washington. Aside from Taekwon-Do, I specialize in conflict resolution and team building/executive coaching. I earned my 1st Dan Black Belt right here at Hood River Martial Arts in December 2018 and my 2nd Dan in December 2020.
In my spare time I enjoy coaching Taekwon-Do, kiteboarding, snow skiing and hiking around in the Columbia Gorge wilderness.
I started Taekwon-Do at age 40 at the YMCA to encourage my kids to get focused and get myself into shape. I received my 1st Degree Black Belt in December 2018 and my 2nd degree Black Belt in December 2020. I enjoy teaching, learning and coaching Taekwon-Do techniques.
My other pastimes include lavender farming, bugging and competing in Taekwon-Do tournaments. My husband and two children have earned black belts in Taekwon-Do at Hood River Martial Arts.
I started Taekwon-Do at HRMA when I was 8 years old with my older brother. I fell in love with the sport and got my 1st degree Junior Black at 13. Now I am 15 years old and have been working as an assistant instructor for 2 years. I love teaching, learning and competing in Taekwon-Do. Taekwon-Do has become a second family to me and I am so very grateful!
When I’m not teaching or practicing Taekwon-Do, I do Kali here at HRMA, do HipHop, and am on the track team for HRVHS.
I started my Taekwon-Do journey back in the summer of 2019, not knowing what to expect. Not long after starting and doing my first couple of classes, I fell in love with the sport, and ever since then I’ve continued my passion through this martial art and kept wanting to keep learning more and more. In December of 2022, I tested and received my first degree black belt, and I plan on continuing to teach, learn, and competing more in the future.
If I’m not at HRMA, I am participating in my school’s plays and musicals, playing saxophone in jazz band, playing piano, or competing track and field team!
